Today Will found Zoe half way out of our computer room window. She had torn the screen and was trying to escape. Will grabbed he before she could leave and yelled at her. She's been hiding under the bed ever since. Will thinks she tore the screen all by herself. I think there may have already been a small hole that she made worse.....a lot worse. The reason for my thinking is that she is 3 and a half years old and has never ever done this before and she has sat in front of a lot of open windows with a lot of temptations of the other side of the screen. The problem of having an indoor cat is that they want to go outside and the fact that you don't let them makes them want it more. When she was a kitten, I would have to enter the front foor slowly and pretend that I was going to kick her with my foot so she wouldn't try to get around me to escape.... which she did once or twice. But if you let them go outside they can get sick, or attacked by other cats, dogs, whatever, and then there are cars... so no outside unless she is with one of us on her leash. Yes, I have a leash for my cat... but at least I can control her when she's outside. Ah well....now we have to replace the screen that she tore....the landlord won't be very happy if we don't... and we have to figure out how to have the windows open without the cat trying to escape. It would be a very hot summer with no open windows.
