Parakkum did it so I figured I would too:
Bonus: Gotten married to my highschool sweet heart in San Francisco on the beach.
Our kitchen looks not unlike ground zero for world war 3.
Let me start at the beginning... On Sunday, Tonya and I started our day by going to brunch. Then Tonya went to the mall to do some Vday shopping. She got gifts for her office mates and some stuff from Spencers Gifts for our week after Valentines day, two weeks after our 1 year living together versary. I stayed home a played Half Life 2, watched some TV, did some work, and did some stuff to my dirt bike.
Tonya came home and offered to make curry. I pointed out that to really make curry takes several hours as it really has to sit for a while and thicken. I countered with an offer to make the curry and we would store it and have the curry for valentines day. She said yes. She went out to buy our dinner for Sunday night while I started cooking.
During the process of peeling and cutting up all the vegetables I managed to clog the drain in the kitchen sink. I was at a point were I could continue with out it so I did. I had the vegetables all waiting and the beef and onions were browning. I started the drain clearing process with drain cleaning chemicals. The sink was still full of water. I got a plunger, the sink was still full of water and vegetable matter was shooting out of the anti syphon valve on top of the sink.
At this point the browning was done so I mixed the browned meat and onions with the potatoes and carrots in the big pot. I added the water and curry bricks. I set the flame to simmer and returned to the sink with a bucket and pipe wrenches.
I disconnected the drain pipe from the garbage disposal and messily drained the contents of the sink into a bucket. At this point I tried running my snake to no avail. I then started to take apart the pipes only to have the U bend fall to pieces and notice one of the 90 bends already had a whole rotted through it. At this point I ran to home depot for new pipe only to find them locking the doors as I pull in. I was not happy as this meant having to wait.
When I got home we made that decision to let the land lord deal with this. Since it was going to be a multiday adventure we would let them handle it...
I finished making the curry and we enjoyed our dinner trying not to generate too many dirty dishes as we had no way to clean them.
On monday we called the land lord who promised to have a plumber there the next day. So for two and a half days we waited with not drain in the kitchen. When the plumber came he did exactly what I was going to do. He cut the pipe at the joint and replaced the whole deal with PVC.
