I enjoyed Seabiscuit. I didn't think it was too longer nor did I find it too trite. I thought it was a pretty typical family movie. It reminds me a lot of Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken except it wasn't about a girl and it wasn't rated G. (I just noticed that Wild Hearts is listed at an "If you like this tittle.." recommendation on IMDB; I must not be the only one to have drawn the similarity.

Just last week, syndicated radio host Tom Leykis--whose syndicated show is heard in more than 60 cities--publicly identified Byrant's accuser, despite her family's pleas for privacy and news' organization's policies shielding the names of victims of sex crimes.
Friends of the alleged victim have also granted numerous interviews to both television and print journalists, revealing often salacious tidbits.
Internet chat rooms and Websites have been abuzz with news and rumors of the case ever since it broke, even revealing the 19-year-old woman's purported home and email addresses and phone number and circulating photos of the former cheerleader (several of which depicted the wrong woman). And this week's Globe tabloid features a supposed photo of the victim with a black bar covering her face.
Tonight, we found this great post and thread on comp.emacs.help... Its really funny.

I work on firmware. Last year, I lobbied and convinced NetApp/my team that CFE was the right choice. Broadcom the company that created CFE has now made CFE available to the public.
In the current broadcom version you will find the following code that I wrote (some of it was messaged by the lead engineer at broadcom):
- the ui handler (rewrite to support environmental variable as command aliases)
- bug fixes in the flash driver
- paths as URL code
- random bug/feature changes
Currently, CFE only runs on SB1250 based systems. I encourage everyone to port CFE to new and exciting architectures.
The Tomb Raider sequel is much better then the first, but then that really isn't saying much. The special effects were clearly digital and not of the highest quality. Why can't directors be happy with real special effects? Why do writers write things that are so absurd they can't be filmed? The movie opens with Lara Croft riding a shark, that is so clearly digital it is lame. She goads that shark into attacking her by cutting herself to get some blood in the water.
However, stupid effects and effects ideas aside the movie was worth seeing.
So as usual, Bubba (Kawasaki #259) won the 125 class on his KX125... but this weekend for the second time in a row Kevin Windham (Honda #14) beat Ricky (Honda #4).
Bubba has won every moto since his come back. He is down in points but he is just clean the clocks of every racer out there. He may even win the championship even after missing so many races. James currently sits 4th overall in the standing after missing 4 races. He is 82 points down from Grant Langstrom. 2nd and 3rd are held by Mike Brown and Ryan Hughes.
Windham went 1 - 1 at Washougal this weekend. He beat him last weekend at Unadilla, and now again at Washougal. This is the first time in 2 years, anyone has beaten Ricky outdoors. Kevin did it two weekends in a row!!! Kevin is giving the CRF450R the cred, that Reed gave the YZ250F last year. It looks like the four stroke is a live and well. At least in the hands of a man like Windham. (To be fair windham would probably do fine on a CR250R, Kevin is just that fast.)
Stuck in North Carolina... I'm at Netapp's RTP NC USA facility. I'm giving presentations on stuff...

I have the coolest roommates. Because of my surgury I missed the San Diago Comic Convention. I was going to go this year, because, well because I've gotten into comics. I was really bummed about it. So my roommates went with out me. (Ok, I know your fist reaction is I should follow that up with, bastards, but wait for it...) The bought me an awesome sketch book, and got the artists for some of my favorite comics to do sketches specifically too me. They gave it to me this morning so I can't remember everyone but, they got Fred Gallagher, Stan Sakai, Jim Mahfood, and others... I'll update this with more later...
I just finished reading Lolita by Nabakov. It was interesting. I had trouble digesting it until I read his message at the end, that clearly states he didn't write this for analysis or for a lesson. It isn't meant to be a story of pornography, nor is it a story to condemn. It is for intensive purposes just a story, for the reader to experience something different. In that context he did a great job. The book is definitely an experience. Nabakov does a good job putting you inside the protagonist.
Last night Shane and I watched Biker Boys. It was not nearly as bad as I expected. The ending was weak but it was a pretty good movie. I can see why it didn't do all that well in the theater. It is character driven and didn't have a lot of amazing unbelievable special effects. Instead they hired some good stunt riders to do sport bike stunts. The stunts weren't bad but certainly weren't better then any of the outlaw videos of sport bike stunts.

enough to be annoying.
Initial Setting: Phone Call... John is in the car driving to a party.
Main Setting: San Francisco Pier 39 - Fishermans Warf
Flash Back setting: Sonoma - main street...
Synopsis:
John and Sharron have not seen each other in 10 years. Sharron
is now married to Ben. Sharron called John up out to the blue
to see how he is doing, they agreed. She was going to be in
San Francisco where John lives. They have a conversation about
life, and towards the end they have a moment. Then she goes
back to Ben, and John goes home alone.
sweater, blue jean, and Dr. Martins.
Sharron is at her house. Her husband Ben is out entertaining clients
for his law firm. She is sitting at her kitchen table in a small
apartment. She is wearing sweats/PJs (some thing cute but not
flattering).>

Sharron: Hi, is this John? It's me Sharron.
John: ???
Sharron: I hope you don't mind me calling, I called you mom and got
your phone number from her. I've been thinking about you a
lot recently and really missed talking to you.
John: Hi. wow. It's been a long time. What have you been up to?
Sharron: Well I left home and moved to Long Beach to go to CSU Long
Beach with my then boyfriend. Now I'm back living in Sonoma
finishing school. How about you?
John: Well let's see. I went to UC Berkeley so as to not be too far
from my parents. This way they could see me on weekends but not
bother me too often. My dad wanted me to go to Sonoma State but
I decided to get out while the getting was good. I started
working for a Dot Com but that didn't work out. Now, I teach
elementary school in San Francisco.
Sharron: Wow... You've been busy.
John: I actually mode it out the dot com implosion. I cashed out just
as things started to crash.
John: So do you ever make it down to the city.
Sharron: Sometimes my husband Ben and I go to the city. But its kind
of expensive and we can't really afford much right now.
John: Husband... Interesting...
Sharron: Oh yeah... I got married a few years ago...
John and Sharron are walking along a main street in Sonoma. John is
carrying a gift box from Sharron at least by the tag. Music playing in
the background: Portishead - Dummy - Sour Times (interrupted by country
every few blocks bleeding out stores, bars and restaurants.)

Sharron: The food was really good. I enjoyed it.
John: Yeah... I like that place. It's one of my score places.
Sharron: Score places?
John: Places I take women when I want to score. (Sharron raises an
eyebrow) Well, at least the ones that aren't married. (John
winks back at her.)
Sharron: Do you ever miss me? I still think about you and I have
dreams about you.
John: What do you mean?
Sharron: Well do you ever think about us? Do you ever regret the way
things turned out?
John: Yeah, well, if you recall it wasn't like I voluntarily dumped
you or anything. Your step father had a large hand it. He made
it clear to me, that when I turned 18, we were over.
Sharron: That isn't an answer, you're avoiding the question...
John: Well, I'm not sure what to say, what would, uhm, Ben say? I
can't think of a way to answer this that is safe.
Sharron: I need to know, how do you feel.
John: I never stopped loving you. We never got to finish what we
had. It was taken from us before we were finished. I don't know
that we will ever get to finish what we had. You've got Ben, who
loves you and I have a, well I have my life. And I think this is
where we must part again....
(They come to the end of fishermans warf, John goes one way, Sharron
goes the other.)
First off, I have to thank Burnadette. She got me to and from the hospital. She even ran back inside the hospital to get the screws that they extracted out of my leg.
So, the last bit of food or drink I had before my surgery was in the middle of the night on Wednesday. I woke up this morning and was unable to contact fow@tooch.com or tooch.com at all. So I emailed my good friend Micheal Rubin, who asked Burnadette to take me to the hospital.
I arrived at the hospital at 11am. Burnadette offered to stay with me before the surgery but I didn't want to keep her so I waved her off and sent her about her day. After a minimal check-in (I had already done a pre-checking on Monday), I sat in bed with my Ipod (thanks mom!), and finished Stewart Little. Then I read the original Grrrl Scouts trade paper back. Then after that I read the original Courtny Crumrin trade paper back. Both were good.
After finishing both trades and chilling for a little going over the artwork in Grrrl Scouts, they gave me a shot of morphine and other things that left me very light headed. Then the anastesiologist came in and talked to me about what he was going to do. A few minutes later, a very nice nurse was pushing me to the OR so they could cut me up.
In the OR, they gave me a very powerful narcotic. Not as powerful as the diladid they gave me in Tahoe to take off my boot but pretty damn powerful even though it seemed more powerful. The Dr. explained that I was in so much pain in Tahoe that I wasn't really aware of the effects of the drugs, my body had been too busy compensating for the damage. It took them a few tries to get the blood pressure cuff working, they did after 3 tries and ....
That is my last real memory of the OR. I woke up the recovery room. I don't remember much of that either. In the recovery room I was still way out of it. They were monitoring my vitals every 5 minutes or so.
Then I was moved to 5 west room 14. When in room 14 I ate crackers and drank some cranberry juice. Then I had a turkey sandwitch and some lime sorbet. I started to feel a little sick after this but I just put on my headphones and listened to Dar Williams and chilled. I then called Burnadette so let her know when I was going to be discharged. She came, picked me up and performed her above mentioned act of heroism.
I came home and crashed after watching an episode of CHiPs (Punch and John start an off road motorcycle division of the CHP and give the very HOT officer Cindy Cahill time on a motorcycle). I slept because I wasn't feeling very well. I had a headache and was still a little naucous from the drugs.
Then Ken and Amanda called from the comic con in San Diago. It was great to hear from them. They both said hi, made sure I was OK and told me a little about their day. Then I went back to sleep.
I went to see the Dixie Chicks on Wednesday night. I missed Michelle Branch because of dinner a very fast but nice dinner.
The show was great. The stage was round and the Chicks circled around making sure to play to every section of the HP Pavilion. Most of what they played was from their latest album. They had a lot of energy and kept the crowd going. They finished up the concert with a sneak peak of the video for Top Of the World. All of the songs were performed great. They played all of my favorites except: You Were Mine. Which is a very sad song about a man who has run off with another women.
One of my favorite parts of the concert was the speech before and performance of Truth No. 2. They made reference to the whole Bush controversy. It was great. They didn't over do it, but they made it clear that the right to say what you believe is important. They also had some great background footage while they played of all kinds on injustice and censorship. Some the videos were Nazi book burning, some from the civil rights movement, and some were video of people steam rolling their Dixie Chicks CDs. I was proud to here their message.

is there a more beautiful sentence fragment in the whole English language than "good-looking, sweet, sensitive, hung 19-year-old boyfriend who'll do anything for you in bed"?

EVERYTHING : You belong in a small percentage of Asian females who are an all-round-little-bit-of-everything group. You don't have an accent, but you can speak your own language a little too. You shop at many stores including Forever 21, Rave, and Abercrombie. You own several pairs of platforms and those cute neon colored thongs. Stop being indecisive.

I just finished reading Steve Martin's Shop Girl. It was an interesting read. I am suprized that a man know for his humor, could have such insight. The book really isn't funny. There were a few lines I laughed at but all in nothing was funny. The book was about the evolution of a relationship between a 28 year old and 58 year old. But more it was about what they both learned from the relationship and how it shaped them.
An a personal level I could identify with the 58 year olds charecter. Well sort of. He was a millionare while I'm not quite. But I have achived success. I have also had the same relationship the book described. One person the successfull responsable one the other the younger less mature one. Now, in my case the level of difference in maturity was small (no, laughing... I can be mature when I care to be! I said no laughing! That means you the one behind the computer!) and relationship didn't evolve into a wierd parantal thing, more an older sibling or cousin sort of thing but, the point is one person provides all the responsabilty. The other person losses themself in the relationship by falling deeply in love and depending on the other. Hopefull, people learn from this. However, in real life, unlike books, people seldom learn.
Well, people seem to be confused... I'm not acutally gay. I am in to gay rights but mostly because I think people should be free to do what ever they want if it doesn't hurt anyone else.
I happen to have a prediliction for dick and fart jokes. I also know about both men and womens' fashion (how many guys know about A-frame dress, spagetti straps, and what colors look good on people). I know how to do makeup on both myself and others. But I'm lacking one key trait of the gay man. I'm not into dick. That and kissing any person with facial hair bugs me. If they are male or female it sucks... (Yeah, I've kissed guys... didn't do anything for me...) If I was a chick I would be a lezbian...
"When the pirates of the caribbean breaks down the pirates don't eat the tourists!"
Ken and Amanda and Jeff and I went to see pirates of the caribbean. I was amazed... it didn't suck! It was actually a good movie, not just for a movies based off a ride in an amusment park but for a movie. Johnny Depp was definatly the star. He did an awesome pirate, who was endearing, upredicatable, and funny while at the same time you could still see that he was a pirate. The pretty people weren't bad... but they weren't Johnny. Orlando's part was about the same as Anakin Skywalker in episode two, but he didn't suck. Orlando job was to pine of over the unatainable and to fight for her love. The whole time he was pouty and sullen, well when she wasn't around. Keira was just beautiful. Her job was to be the highborn girl who longs for a lower more exciting life. She did this while at the same time being very scrappy and smart. There were sevral times where she took control and led the men through thick and thin.
Stupid fears of stupid people...
First off all... terrorist don't attack infrastructure. That doesn't inspire terror. Here is the definition of terrorism:
2 definitions found
From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]:
Terrorism \Ter"ror*ism\, n. [Cf. F. terrorisme.]
The act of terrorizing, or state of being terrorized; a mode
of government by terror or intimidation. --Jefferson.
From WordNet (r) 1.7 [wn]:
terrorism
n : the systematic use of violence as a means to intimidate or
coerce societies or governments
(if you're wondering where I got the definitions from I used the unix program dict on my G4 Powerbook running OS X)
Blowing up a powerstation or a fiber relay isn't terror.
9/11 the terrorists hit the twin towers not because it was the most devistating but becuase it was the most psycologically damaging for this country. Look at the Isreal/Palistine conflict. People don't go a blow them selfs up in government or industry targets that have importance to power, or even water. They go to pizza places, markets and other crowded places.
Now that isn't to say that an extreemist group coulndn't use this info. to cripple the US. But that wouldn't be terrorism.
I've been sort of looking for a swim team since I left highschool. One of my favorite things when I was in school was swimming. Mountain View Masters Swim Team loooks really cool. I'm planning on going tomorrow morning. I'll let everyone know how much they rule and I suck.
***** UPDATE *****
I wussed out this morning. I woke up but still couldn't find a pair of swim gogles and decided that with out them I should just roll over and sleep. I will go shopping for swim gogles and go on wedness day. I have one major fear though: Kick turns. With my leg the way it is I'm afraid a kick turn might make it worse...

***** Update 2 *****
I went this morning... Boy am I out of shape. I was on the slowest lane and was one of the faster people in the lane it was still the slowest lane.
I think I'm going to try to stick with it though. I was really enjoying the swimming. I forget how much I actually enjoy working out in a pool.
Here are some examples:
