Songs for Summer - I was there...

Songs For Summer Events & Happenings

Saturday, May 6, 2000
San Francisco Songs For Summer record release party at Club Cocodrie in North Beach 1024 Kearny St. 415.986.6678
featuring
SUZANNE & THE SUMMERZ, more fun playing some of Summer's favorite songs with some Bay Area pals. Who knows who will show up?! Me either, but I'm working on it....
A special performance featuring members of PANSY DIVISION, SF's own powerqueerpoppunk legends rock SFS's "The Summer You Let Your Hair Grow Out" and other boyboy classiques.
THE CABLES, power poppers that Summer saw more than just about any other band when they were based in San Diego.
BEASLEY, making the trip from Orange County and playing purdy/quiet mellow-D's. PLUS, GET THERE EARLY TO SEE
WESLEY WILLIS! The man who inspired Summer's famous "rar" drawing will be playing a special early set around 7:30 so don't be late!
PEZZ, BYO Records sensations playing just before the big man takes the stage. These guys are gonna blow the lid off the joint.

I was at this show. It was pretty great. It was my one chance to see Wesley Willis before he passed away. That night I bought two CDs that I love. The Songs for summer CD and I was given (post show) the CD "Pull a Song From Here" by the group Beasley. I was standing in line to buy the Beasley CD and there was only one left. I let the woman behind me have it. I emailed the band after the show and they sent me a free CD in the mail for sacrificing my potential CD at the show.

I've tried to get back in touch with the band Beasley or even some of the former members. I have not been successfully. The Beasley site is still on the internet but hasn't changed in 6 years.

whoa! was randomly looking for any mention i did of Suzanne & The Summerz and found this! What a fun show. Beasley broke up shortly after the show but a few of their members have a new group called Greater California that treads the same purdy musical wire Beasley did. Cheers!
