First month of mommyhood

This month has gone by fast yet it seems like Katie has been a part of our life for much much longer. She's doing great. She wakes me up at night every 3-4 hours to be fed but she usually goes back to sleep really well. Every once in awhile, she's nice to me and she sleeps for 5 hours. She's such a sweet, happy baby. Will's mom was so sweet and stayed with us for almost a month. She left for a couple days here and there but was here most of the time. It was so great to have help. I don't know how I would have eaten, had clean clothes, and a good amount of sleep if it wasn't for her those first couple weeks while we were adjusting. And now that I've gotten used to Katie's schedule I'm actually able to take care of her and clean the kitchen and do laundry. His mom really enjoyed being with Katie so much too.

More in extended........

Besides being a bit tired, I'm feeling really good too. Labor and delievery was pretty easy on me and my recovery has been great. In the beginning, I had to be reminded to take it easy because I was feeling pretty good. Will and I started taking long walks around the neighborhood about 2 weeks after Katie was born. And considering the hills around here a walk around the block is a pretty good workout. We like to take Katie with us in her snuggly, she ends up sleeping almost the entire walk.

Last week I went to work for 2 days. I'm going to be working at the same place but a different job and only 1 day a week. Instead of doing medical front office, I'll be doing back office, medical assisting for one of the Drs. I've been trained to take vitals, assist in procedures (biopsy's, pap smears, ect...), and do ekg's. Basic primary care medical assitant stuff. It will be nice to get out of the house one day a week, plus my training is something I can use in the future if I want to work more. And I got a raise, although when you only work 1 day a week it doesn't matter much. I'm working more for the learning experience and for a little break from home. Plus, Will really liked the idea of taking care of Katie one day a week all by himeself. It's so great that he can work from home, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. Well I need to wake up Katie from her nap for her next feeding.........she's so adorable :-)
