We got married (again)... Our wedding at Asilomar was a great success. Thank you all who attended, and for those that couldn't we missed you!
The whole thing kicked off with the arrival of Tonya's father on Thursday. He stayed with us. We introduced him to California food and the Monterey bay area. It was the first time we met and I think it went pretty well. I hope he enjoyed his trip. I know there was some food he tried that he liked and some he definitely didn't like (sushi!).
We stayed down at Asilomar for 4 days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We stayed in a room on the grounds that was the worst room at the place. We had a view of the maids closet. Every other room in the place (that we were aware of) had a view of either the ocean of of the forrest. We wanted to change rooms but it was a hassle as it wasn't an easy thing between their difficulty find a room and our difficulty getting all of our stuff repacked and moved. It just never happened. The view from our room is here. This is the view from one room on either side.
We arrived on friday. Tonya and her father drove the 330i down and I took the 1150GS. We felt that we should travel to our wedding in/on our BMWs. I really wanted to ride down to help keep me relaxed and unstressed. It sort of worked. When we got to Asilomar we checked in and got settled into our rooms. Then we left for Carmel. We spent a lot of time in Carmel. Tonya and I love Carmel so it was all good. We showed her father around Carmel a bit and called Prashant and Tina to see if they were in town yet. We knew they were coming in on friday night just like us and since they are such a pleasure to see we wanted to do dinner.
We met them on Cannery row at a restaurant they were using to feed my adorable niece Neha. We actually had decided to eat there but just as we were ordering the power blew and they shutdown the kitchen. We then walked around looking for a good restaurant for dinner. We found a great one and had a nice 3 hour sit down dinner. The food was great, the company was awesome. Afterwards we gave Neha her flowergirl gift. We got her a teddybear and musical box. The box was a beautiful hand made Italian box that plays Fur Elise.
The next day (Saturday for those counting), we met my parents and Prashant, Tina, and Neha at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I took some photos of the day. For many of the shots I used 1600 ISO and my 24-70 lens at F2.8. You may notice a lot of the shots have blurring, some are out of focus (not many I hope) and some are blurred only on the subject because people and fish move too much for a shutter speed of 1/10th of a second. We saw the whole aquarium even the new exhibits. If you haven't been to the newest exhibits it is worth going just to check those out. I took a ton of pictures both of my co-visitors and of the exhibits.
After that was all said and done we took off for Carmel. We had dinner at a GREAT Mediterranean place, Village Corner. Tonya and I had eaten there before for our valentineversary. Dinner was great! We had appetizers and wine and dinner and desert. The food was as good as I remember it. When dinner was over we decided to go down to the beach. I was happy because I had my camera in the car and could get some good pictures.
The next day was basically craziness. The day started with the rehearsal. When the rehearsal ended I had my doubts. It seemed like a mess of confusion and no one was taking MY wedding seriously. After much confusion the groomsmen and the officiant went to lunch (as did the women folk). The men folk went to Portabella in Carmel. We had a 3 hour 3 course lunch. It was great. This is where I gave my out the male wedding gifts. I choose watches. I got Nicky a Sony sport watch. Tooch, Mike, and Shane got Skagen Ti watches.
After lunch we rushed to the mall so that Tonya's father and I could get fitted for out tuxes. While waiting for everything to settle down at the mall I bought my clothes for the Rehearsal dinner.
The rehearsal dinner was great. It was at Tarpie's Road House Cafe on HW-68. I know it doesn't sound like a great restaurant but it is. That and they could seat us all in a private room. All of Tonya's family was there and all of my family was there plus the wedding party and their SOs. Lets just say that my parents know how to throw a party. I got to talk to family I haven't seen since I was a freshman in highschool. It was good.
The food was either Port roast or Chicken something or other, or vegan something. I had the pork. Most of the night was spent talking and catching up with travels from New Jersey. I also spent time with my little cousin Claire. She's four and very cute. She and Neha were running around the reception together the next day.
