Out of the fog of the past...

A little while ago I mentioned an elementary school friend in a post. Actually, in many ways she was the girl next door complete with the horribly handled crush. She moved into a house down the street from me the summer before forth grade. She was smart, pretty, and a lot less boring then most of the other kids I knew. For one thing she liked to read which was new for me, she was also from "some place cool". When your stuck in suburban northern Jersey even Long Island is some place cool! The thing I remember most was sitting in a tree in her yard talking about how the Egyptians made mummies. We talked about the long hooks they used to pull organs and other fun things out of the body. In general she was the only other "smart" kid who wasn't part of the jock sport clique. She was one of the few people who I never disliked in elementary school. The other thing I remember is her father was a pilot of a private plane for News Week or some other major news magazine. I thought that was really really cool.

Aparently, I was little bastard. Seeing how, I remember most of the things in her list, I was a little bastard. I wish I could remember what we painted on the window. I remember doing it, however, I have NO idea what we painted.

A few more things to add to her list of things we did together:

  • She was one of the kids who used to use my wheel chair the year I broke my leg.
  • We walked home together for many years.
  • More then once in 6th and 7th grade I was a go between for her and Mike O.
  • Believe it or not we both went to youth group at the local church like good zombies.
  • In elementary school she always got the best grade in math which pissed off the smart jock clique.
  • We (her, Mike O, Jeff C, Mike F and other) used to hang out behind Highland School during recess where we would hang out, fight, talk, and generally be totally unsupervised kids.
  • The first year we had "health" class we both read the book before the class even started (I don't think either of us learned much from it) and talked about it outside of class. I think we were the only students not to ask the: What happens if the man pees during sex? question.
  • She was the only other person I knew who knew anything correct about sex who wasn't learning about it first hand.
  • She was a master at not getting in trouble. That made her the perfect accomplice to everything.
  • She was one of the few other students that ALL teachers seemed to love.

oh my god. i nearly spat water out of my mouth when i read this list (i had been drinking the water, so it's not really odd). number one, we painted a graveyard scene on the window: pacman-esque ghosts, etc. i remember being pissed off cuz we wrote "happy halloween" or something but you had AWFUL, unspeakable handwriting (and probably still do), which marred my classic depiction of horror and evil. i don't remember the health class thing, but it sounds like me. i do remember being the chatterbox girl in a group full of boys. i only now remember that i made you a go-between with mike. how lame. and he was all hung up on shannon hardt, who is now breeding, i hear.
