Went to dinner at the Moss Beach Distillery. Here is my review:
The place is tri-level. The lower level is a lower cost, coastal restaurant. Food is ocean themed but seemed to be lower end. We didn't eat there. The bar area servers food and drink but is located in the center of the building so you don't get an amazing view. You can get any food from either the lower restaurant or the upper though the bar plus you can get drinks. We had appetizers in the bar from the main restaurant menu. The appetizers were amazing. We had seared ahi and smoked salmon. They were both simply amazing. I can say anything better then that. The main restaurant is a very nice place. Every table seemed to be situated for an amazing view of the ocean and the coast. The food was great. I had the Prawns. They were almost as large as baby lobstertails and just as sweet. The only thing that left me less then impressed was the "local legend" about the place being haunted. The location was beautiful, and the food was great. They should have left it at that. Instead they have apparently teamed up with UnSolved Mysteries and have the ghost story about the blue lady haunting the place. That is the closest thing to a down side. You can expect to spend around $200 for a nice dinner for two. Appetizers and drinks were $40 and food was $70. That didn't include wine or dessert.
Posted by pqbon at August 11, 2003 7:22 PM | TrackBackYour comments about the Distillery were pretty accurate I thought with some exception. I live about a mile away and I take guests there all the time. Apparently you did not care for the Ghost story. I will tell you most people do, its great entertainment. They have had paranormal investigators out there and they say there are truly spirits on the premises. Sylvia Browne has written extensively about the Distillery in her books and swears the Blue Lady is very real indeed! The steaks on the menu are the best on the Coast and rival the best steakhouses in San Francisco. Last year it was voted Number #1 Seafood & Steak Restaurant on the San Mateo County Coastside.
