RS gave four of the top ten spots to the Beatles and two to Dylan, and they also gave each one more in the top twenty. Both deserve to be high on the list, but that's a bit ridiculous. I'm sure their fans would disagree.
Looking through this list reminded me of a lot of albums that I want to buy. Must...resist...
RollingStone Top 500 Albums of all time

like those top 100 book lists, i think these guys are on crack. My question is not whether they're smoking it, but how many times they hit the crack pipe before breakfast. My complaints:
1) Folsom Prison only ranks 88?!
2) They rank Low End Theory higher than Midnight Marauders
3) Abba is on that list
Clearly the people calling the shots at Rolling Stone are aging hippies who long for the good old days. Anything that's not rock and roll gets shafted, and anything by women gets shafted. Not that they're not on the list... they just seem to rate lower than they should. And the newest album in the top 10 is London Calling with came out in 1980. And by the way... *anything* by the Clash is better than the goddam Beach Boys.

sigh.
